About us

Equality, Diversity Workforce Profile

NHS City and Hackney has been focusing attention on the multi-cultural and diverse nature of the organisation with the aim to celebrate the diverse workforce.

This comes natural as we are proud to serve one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse parts of England which both City and Hackney boroughs are.

The patients, public and staff of the PCT expect us to take equality, diversity, and human rights as serious issues, and to meet our obligations under equality, anti discrimination and human rights legislation. We believe that we also have a moral and ethical obligation to meet these requirements.

We believe that the diversity of our workforce is vital in achieving our ED objectives which are:

To encourage human rights, equality and diversity culture across the PCT

To use data which we gather on equality issues to monitor the make-up of our workforce and also to ensure that we are reaching the diverse communities we serve.

To develop a single equality scheme covering race, gender (including trans gender), disability, age, sexual orientation, and religion and belief.

To ensure that regular impact assessments are made across the PCT to monitor the impact of our activities on race, gender (including transgender), disability, age, sexual orientation and religion and belief.

To develop a broad and dynamic Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Strategic and Operational working groups to take the agenda forward.
