needs of local people, and your views on how we can improve
services.
There are many ways that you can get you can
contribute and get your ideas and views across depending on your
commitments, interests and needs.
Board meetings

We like to hear when things have gone well, so that those who
have done a good job get the recognition they derserve. We also
want to know if you are unhappy with the service you
received. Whether it’s a suggestion about how we could
improve something we do or a complaint about a service you have

Come and visit us at one of our many community health events in

Your Health in Your Hands
Free dental
checks and NHS health checks, massage taster sessions, community
choir performances, tango demonstrations, Men’s health room, health
advice for men and women of all ages, free prize draws, fun for the

Parks for Life
NHS City and Hackney have
teamed up with Hackney Council’s Parks for Life team to visit many
of the parks throughout the borough. To find out where we will be

Expert Patient Programme
This is a free course for people living with long-term health
conditions. It offers people the opportunity to learn new skills
and share experiences with others living with long-term conditions.
Participants will learn how to better manage their own care, which
can lead to a better quality of life, reduction in symptoms and
less frequent visits to the doctor.Link to Social Action for Health

We would like you to get involved and help us plan and develop
the services you need on an ongoing basis. For example you could

Surveys and other research
Exploring peoples experience, opinion and ideas on health
services. Information on current research, research findings, and
service improvements resulting from user feedback. For more

City & Hackney Patient Network
The purpose of the Patient Network is primarily to provide
ongoing learning, support, and behavioural change for graduates of
the EPP. Evidence has shown a need for this support. Members will
attend monthly support group meetings. Participants will have a
chance to share how they have moved on in their lives hopefully
inspiring others. They will also have access to a web site with
health information and an interactive tool for sharing information
and advice using a message board format.
Once fully established it is hoped the network will be opened up to
any patient in Hackney and the City
Volunteering
There are opportunites to volunteer your services to support
local NHS organisations such as Homerton Hospital. For more

Disability Backup
Disability Backup is a forum for local disabled people to have
their say about the services that they receive. They are
funded by Hackney Council. Anyone who has a disability and works or
lives in Hackney can join. They currently have over 200
disabled members and meet monthly and send out a monthly
newsletter with lots of information. Self referrals or referalls
from services welcome. Simply call, email or text with your name,
