The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act was passed on 30 November 2000. It gives the general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities, including all types of NHS organisations, with full rights of access granted in January 2005. The Act sets out exemptions to that right and places certain obligations on public authorities.

The purpose of the Act is to promote greater openness by public authorities

Under section 19 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Trust has a legal duty to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme for the publication of Trust information.

What a publication scheme is?

This Publication Scheme is a complete guide to the information routinely published by NHS City & Hackney . The information is divided into different “classes” outlining information about our organisation.

We shall review the scheme at regular intervals and monitor how it is operating. It is important to us that this Scheme meets your needs and we have designed it to be a route map so that you can find information about the Trust easily.
