Health Visiting

The health visiting service is working to promote the health and wellbeing of families who have children under the age of five.

 

Services

  • Complete first contact visits, such as the new birth visit and young child health reviews at the ages of 6 months and 8 months
  • Deliver health promotion (for example, immunisation, weaning, breastfeeding, healthy eating)
  • Provide advice for accident prevention and family support
  • Complete child protection health reviews (this is a systematic and objective assessment process for children in need and children in need of protection)
  • Deliver a specialised immunisation service
  • Deliver public health initiatives for specific groups, delivered by public health co-ordinators
  • Work with traveller, gypsy and homeless families

 

Referrals

Referrals may be made through self-referral, from a hospital, through children's centres, or by GPs and their agencies.

 

Opening hours

Monday to Friday from 9.00am - 5.00pm. These core working hours can often change in response to service need and service development.
