The children's physiotherapy service provides physiotherapy for children resident or at school in Hackney and the City. 

 

Services

  • Provide assessment and intervention of movement and gross motor skills for children with complex needs resulting from congenital or acquired neurological conditions
  • Provide hands-on treatment, advice and equipment to meet the needs of children with movement difficulties
  • Assess and provide treatment to improve mobility and maintain range of movement
  • Provide early intervention for parents of babies and young children aged 0-2 years, in the form of training and advice to develop motor skills, provide appropriate stimulation, positioning and handling
  • Support schools in the provision of the Motor Skills Programme
  • Provide assessment and intervention for children with difficulties resulting from a muscoskeletal problem e.g. toe walking, fractures

 

Referrals

Referrals may be made by a GP or other health, education or social care professionals who are involved with the child and concerned about their development.  Referrals must be accompanied by supporting information.

 

Opening hours

Monday to Friday from 9.00am - 5.00pm. On occasion children can be seen outside these times.

Children will be seen in the most appropriate setting relevant to supporting the family or education staff and the need for specific physiotherapy equipment e.g. treadmill, orthotics.

 

Response times

  • Within 2-4 weeks for children with acute presentation e.g. sudden deterioration, hospital discharge
  • Target of within 5 weeks for non-acute referrals
