Wheelchair service

The wheelchair service provides a comprehensive service
including assessment, supply and maintenance of wheelchairs and
seating equipment to children and adults with substantial and
long-term mobility impairment. The service aims to enable our
clients to gain maximum possible mobility and to promote greater
independence.
Regular clinics for assessment and trial of equipment are held
by therapists, technicans and rehabilitation engineers. Follow-up
visits in the community are arranged as appropriate.

- Postural seating and pressure needs assessment
- Specialist buggies and wheelchairs for children
- Customised seating for people with complex seating needs
- Powered wheelchairs for indoor and outdoor use for people with
severly impaired mobility
- Attendant and self-propelling wheelchairs
- Provision of the NHS Voucher Scheme
- Repair and maintenance service for equipment provided
Referrals
Referrals must be from a GP, qualified nurse, occupational
therapist, physiotherapist or therapy/rehabilitation assistant.
