  • The proposed merger of Barts and The London, Newham and Whipps Cross NHS Trusts is continuing to progress, with the earliest time for establishing a new merged organisation is April 2012.

  • To support local people to diagnosis and treatment, NHS East London and the City, in conjunction with local pharmacies and national charity, the hepatitis C trust, has re-launched a hepatitis testing programme originally piloted in 2009 in Hackney.

    A report released by London Health Programmes on 21 June 2011 has confirmed the extent to which chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) a type of lung diseases is a health problem in east London (Newham, Tower Hamlets and the City and Hackney).

  • An innovative project promoting healthy eating involving residents in Hackney has been given funding from NHS East London and the City’s Healthy Weight Community Chest.

  • NHS East London and the City are inviting older residents in East London to attend a series of events from 20 to 24 June to mark National Falls Week 2011.
