Equality & diversity
At NHS City & Hackney we are committed to delivering quality
healthcare to our local diverse community.
Hackney is one of the most diverse boroughs in London,
presenting us with challenges not only in the delivery of sensitive
and culturally appropriate services but also in selecting a
workforce to deliver this care. To effectively deliver modernised
healthcare we need to ensure that our workforce is reflective of
our local communities. At City & Hackney we have a dedicated
NHS City and Hackney Equality & Diversity Lead working to
improve equality & diversity within employment. We also have a
dedicated lead in the Health Improvement Directorate tackling
health inequalities within local communities.
In recent years, several programmes have been initiated to
ensure that we are proactive in recruiting, developing and
retaining a high class diverse workforce at all levels. This
includes the introduction of a MEGN (Minority Ethnic Groups
Network), several mentoring schemes, a quiet room (which can be
used for prayer) and participation in local and national
development schemes.
This is an exciting time for NHS City & Hackney and we hope
that in continuing to develop our Equality & Diversity strategy
we will become an employer of choice and present opportunities for
all within the local community.
